Tips for skin care during summers
Keep yourself well hydrated. Drink plenty of water and electrolytes.
Eat plenty of fruits and green leafy vegetables as they are rich sources of antioxidants.
Wear loose fitting cotton based clothing
You can also wear fabrics that offer UPF( UV protection factor) if you are outdoors for the greater part of the day.
Wear sunscreen with good SPF whenever stepping outdoors. It is recommended to apply a sunscreen around 15 to 20 mins before going out and to repeat it every 3 to 4 hours.
Prefer using a gel or aqueous based sunscreen having a SPF of atleast 30( indicates UVB protection) and a good boot star rating( indicates UVA protection)
There are some specific sunscreens that are recommended for children.
Some of the sunscreens are sweat and water resistant and be used for activities like swimming etc.
Broad brimmed hats, sunglasses and scarves can be used as other sun protection measures.
The scorching heat of summers can make your skin look dry, wrinkled and dehydrated. Make sure to moisturise it on a regular basis. A light non greasy moisturiser would be a better choice in summers
Various depigmenting creams containing vitamin c , kojic acid, glycolic acid, arbutin etc. And procedures like microdermabrasion, chemical peels, photofacials etc can help reduce tanning.
Maintaining good personal hygiene is important as various fungal and bacterial skin infections are common in summers.
Bathing, washing clothes in hot water after every wear , drying in sunlight, ironing them and wearing open footwear can help prevent these infections.
Consult your Dermatologist whenever you get red itchy rashes on your body. Avoid using over the counter creams that mostly contain steroids which can do more harm than good.
